As the last two years have shown, a career in the NHS can be challenging but it is also hugely rewarding. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, NHS staff have cared for around 680,000 seriously ill Covid patients. At the same time, they came together to deliver the NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme, the biggest in health service history.
Dedication and resilience
And during this unprecedented time, cancer patients continued to receive care, because of the dedication and resilience of the amazing cancer care teams. This includes the administrators, clinical nurse specialists, GPs, practice nurses, consultants, radiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, pharmacists, and psychologists involved in any patient’s care.
“Today we acknowledge the contribution and impact of every member of staff involved in cancer services in our Thames Valley hospitals,” says Cathy Wybrow, Managing Director of TVCA.
“Our NHS has seen massive changes in its 74 years, but none as fast-paced nor as complex as those since 2020 – and the resilience of the staff has been vital to achieve this.
“In cancer care, right now we continue to deliver the most ambitious catch-up programme in NHS history to help the return to pre-pandemic waiting times – and this is only made possible by our amazing and dedicated workforce who work tirelessly for all patients and deserve this recognition.”
NHS Big Tea
So if you would like to join in the NHS Big Tea on Tuesday, please raise a cuppa to the staff of our hospitals, clinics, surgeries, and laboratories, and let’s celebrate the role of the NHS in our lives.
