Supporting primary care in early cancer diagnosis
Primary care is central to the early diagnosis of cancer. Detecting cancer at an earlier stage gives patients more treatment options, improves long-term survival, and enhances quality of life.
The NHS Long Term Plan sets the ambitious goal that by 2028, 75% of cancers should be diagnosed at stage 1 or 2 (up from around half today).
To help primary and community colleagues contribute to this ambition, we have created a series of toolkits with:
- Practical tips for developing improvement plans
- Cancer-specific education and training resources
- Information and materials for both staff and patients
