Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) Symptomatic in Primary Care

FIT Symptomatic was commissioned and introduced in Primary Care across Thames Valley in Summer 2020. The test can find blood in poo, which could be an early sign of bowel cancer. This test will be given to patients by their GP who meet the criteria outlined in the Thames Valley Lower GI Pathway.

Please note if a patient is 60–74, they may have done a FIT test before, because this is also part of the Bowel Screening Programme. You can find out more information on FIT Screening on the Cancer Research UK website.
