Season’s Greetings

“As we say farewell to the challenges of 2022, all my colleagues at TVCA send you Season’s Greetings and our thanks and best wishes over the festive period and for a peaceful, happy, and healthy New Year,” says Cathy Wybrow, Managing Director of TVCA.

Delivering in 2022

“During the year we began work with BOB ICB and our colleagues in other Systems and non-healthcare organisations. Together we will continue to deliver the recovery programme and the Government’s ambitions for cancer services of the NHS Long Term Plan.

“Tackling health inequalities remains a priority via our Cancer Allies programme. We were delighted to attend many events throughout the year to talk to people with learning disabilities about cancer awareness.  We also joined faith and community groups to create awareness of signs and symptoms of prostate, breast, bowel, lung, and mouth and throat cancers. The emphasis was on the ‘early diagnosis saves lives’ message.

“Membership of the TVCA Patient Partnership Group continues to grow with those who have had lived experience of cancer, having an opportunity to work alongside the Alliance and Systems.  Listening to the patient voice to improve patient safety and experience, and health outcomes is essential, and we are committed to continuing our collaboration with patients.

“Bringing our colleagues together from primary, secondary, and tertiary care and our partners from the key charities and private sector is vital to delivering cancer services.  We were delighted with the attendance at, and response to, our Showcase event in December. It provided a packed shared learning opportunity, as well as much-missed, face-to-face networking.  We look forward to building on this success in 2023 with another learning event.

Plans for 2023

“My hope is that the expertise within the Alliance will become an extension of your team either in an ICB, a Trust, the community, or in general practice.  Working with all our health and non-health cancer services colleagues will help us to deliver our 2023 priorities to address workforce challenges, improve health inequalities and prevention and early diagnosis, implement the Faster Diagnosis aims against the 31-day and 62-day standards, reduce variation, and improve optimal treatment and personalised care. It’s a huge challenge, but working together we can meet it!

“On behalf of our Interim Exec Lead/SRO Meghana Pandit and our Clinical Director Jennifer Graystone, I wish you a restful holiday, where possible. We look forward to our continued work together in 2023 to offer the best possible experience and outcome for every patient affected by cancer across the Thames Valley.

“Enjoy all your festivities with your family and friends, and stay safe. With warmest wishes,”
